How to increase the capacity of your electricity supply (>15 kW and contract)

If you need to increase the capacity of one of your supplies, the procedure depends on your contract type and the capacity you wish to contract.

Here are the two possible options:

Via our private website, provided you are registered and have an active user account.

  1. Log in to your private area.
  2. Go to Grid Connection.
  3. Select New supply or contract modification request.
  4. Complete the capacity upgrade request.

Via your energy supplier

If you have an active contract and the final requested capacity at low voltage (LV) is 15 kW or less, you must request the upgrade directly from your supplier.

We carry out the technical work, but the supplier manages the request with you.

  • Can I change my capacity whenever I want?

    • No.
      By law, you can only modify your contracted capacity once a year.
      Therefore, it is important to be absolutely sure before requesting the change.

  • How do I know what capacity I need?

    • You must calculate the capacity based on:

      • The electrical appliances you will be using.
      • The simultaneous use of those appliances.

      If you contract less capacity than you need, the supply may trip.
      If you contract more capacity than you need, you will overpay.

      There are online calculators that can guide you based on your consumption habits.

  • How much does it cost to change capacity?

    • We, as the distribution company, carry out the necessary technical work.
      However, your supplier will inform you of the cost and bill you for it alongside your electricity consumption.

  • When do I need a new Electrical Installation Certificate?

    • You need a new Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) if you want to increase your capacity and any of the following apply:

      • The requested capacity exceeds the maximum stated on your current EIC.
      • It does not exceed this capacity, but more than 20 years have passed since e‑distribución last verified the installation.
      • You have made a voltage change.

      In the Balearic Islands, we carry out a specific verification. Depending on the result, it may or may not be necessary to submit a new EIC.
